Prepare Your Dashboard for Group-Based Configuration
Updated over 2 weeks ago

We have recently announced a new group-based method for configuring your dashboard, which makes configuration easier to apply across sensors. This new feature is now available for new dashboards, and existing dashboards will be automatically migrated beginning in February. To help us with your migration, please review your dashboard settings and follow these steps.

  • Make sure all your sensors are assigned to a group. Since we are moving to a group-based configuration model, all sensors need to be assigned to a group for them to receive testing configuration.

  • Within each group, make sure all sensors are testing the same networks. Instead of assigning networks at a sensor level, the group-based configuration requires you to assign a network to the group and a sensor to the same group. Therefore, all sensors in a group must be set to test the same networks to ensure a smooth migration.

  • For users on the hierarchy alpha, simplify your test configuration to align with the hierarchy you have set up. Our users on the hierarchy alpha still use legacy groups for test configuration, but the test configuration may not align with the hierarchy you have set up. Our recommendation is to simplify the configuration as much as possible to make the migration easy, then once migrated you can follow the new method to enable tests.

We recommend following the steps above before February to make your migration easier. In the course of migration, we may make changes to your settings to align with the new group-based configuration model.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: in UXI, test results and issues produced by the sensors have the context of their group. This helps us aggregate data in the dashboard, apply filters, build reports, and more. However, if you move a sensor from one group to another, only new data is represented in the updated group. This may result in some of the views in the dashboard appearing grey or "offline" until there is new data. The best way to see a sensor status page without the context of its parent group is to search for the sensor directly. This shows you all the data for the sensor regardless of the group.
