Unmanaged Network support for windows and macOS agent

Monitor User Experience Beyond Office Networks

Updated today

Overview

Unmanaged Networks enables administrators to monitor end user experience on networks that are not managed by your organization such as home Wi-Fi, public hotspots, or coffee shops.

With this feature, UXI Agent on Windows and macOS devices continues to collect and report network, application and device performance data even when users are outside corporate environments.

This provides visibility into real world user experience, helping IT teams diagnose issues regardless of where users are working.

Why This Feature Matters

Modern work is no longer limited to office networks. Without the visibility into unmanaged environments, IT teams face blind spots.

Unmanaged Networks helps you:

  • Monitor performance for remote and hybrid users

  • Troubleshoot issues across home and public networks

  • Understand whether problems are network related even if it is not managed by you

  • Improve end user experience no matter where the user is

Key Capabilities

  1. Outside Network Visibility

    1. Automatically detects when a device is connected to a non corporate network

    2. Continues monitoring without requiring VPN connectivity

  2. End-to-End Experience Monitoring

    1. Tracks metrics such as: Network latency, Packet loss, DNS resolution,Application reachability

  3. Seamless Agent Behavior

    1. No manual intervention required by the user

    2. Runs silently in the background on supported devices

  4. Centralized Insights

    1. Data from unmanaged networks is aggregated and visualized alongside managed network data

How It Works

  1. The UXI Agent runs continuously on the endpoint device

  2. When the device connects to a non-corporate network:

    • The agent classifies it as an unmanaged network

  3. The agent continues executing tests:

    • Network Test -AP Scan, DNS, Gateway reachability

    • Ping, Application reachability, VOIP MOS tests etc.

    • Device resource Utilization

  4. Data is sent to the central dashboard for analysis

How to Enable Unmanaged Networks

  1. Navigate to Settings > Networks

  2. Select Unmanaged and enable Test Unmanaged Networks toggle

  3. Enable the toggle for Unmanaged Network Monitoring

  4. Assign Unmanaged Network to a group

  5. Choose the group and then a specific agent that you want to enable the unmanaged network on

  6. Click Apply

  7. Under Privacy setting you have an option to mask the SSID, disable PCAP or wi-fi environment scanning

How to assign a service on Unmanaged Networks

  1. Navigate to Settings > Services

  2. Enable the toggle for Test on Unmanaged Networks

  3. Click Save

    • Performance metrics (network, application)

    • Wi-Fi environment visualization

    • Device resource utilization

    • Reported alerts

Common Use Cases

  • Troubleshooting slow home Wi-Fi for remote employees

  • Diagnosing issues on public networks (cafes, airports)

  • Monitoring global workforce experience
