Creating and managing sensor groups

Updated over a year ago

On your dashboard, groups can be configured to bucket sensors together simplifying their management and viewing. How sensors are grouped is up to the user. Common groupings include by location, category and network. A sensor can belong to no groups or to a single group and cannot span multiple groups.

Note: Legacy Groups are used for test configuration creation on the sensors.

To create a group go to 'Settings>Sensors' and click on the 'Group Management' tab. Click on the '+ Add Group' button to open the 'Add Group' window. Type in a name and alias for the group and click on 'Add' to create the group. The alias should be a 2 or 3 letter label that can be used to uniquely identify the group.

Once the group has been added the Group Management window will open. This window is used to add or remove sensors from a group. To add/remove a sensor to/from the group you can either click on the relevant button on the sensor from the lists or you can click on the individual sensors on the map. Sensors in blue on the map indicate that they have been assigned to the group and those in grey are either not in the current group or are ungrouped.

When you are happy with the group configuration, click on 'Save' to save your changes.

To change the sensors in a group, go to  'Settings>Sensors' and click on the 'Group Management' tab and click on the 'Manage' button next the relevant group. This will bring up the Group Management window as mentioned above.

To edit the group name or alias or to delete a group, go to  'Settings>Sensors' and click on the 'Group Management' tab. Click on the edit (pencil) icon on the relevant group to bring up the group edit window.
