Import Settings for Sensors and Agents and Sensor Hierarchy Assignment

To configure your sensors, in the UXI dashboard you must define the networks to be tested, create groups for your sensors then assign networks and groups to your sensors. If you have a lot of sensors to configure at once, you can export a CSV of your sensors or sensor hierarchy and assign sensors to the proper networks and groups in the CSV. Then, import the CSV for those changes to be applied.

Once configuration changes have been applied, the changes cannot be undone. Therefore, the ability to import configuration via csv can only be enabled on your dashboard via support request.

Once enabled, you will see an import option available at the top of the Sensors & Agents settings page and if you are using the hierarchy alpha feature, the Groups settings page.

Once you upload a CSV, you will get a confirmation email on whether your upload was successful. If there were errors, the email will contain the first few errors encountered. You do not have to import the entire CSV, you can optionally delete rows from the CSV to only edit a subset of rows. In addition, the changes are intended to be atomic, so either the upload is successful, or none of the changes are made. Regardless it is recommended to save a copy of your configuration in case you need to revert.

How it works:

  1. Export the settings for the page you would like to update. You will be sent an email with a download link.

    1. To edit the assignment of networks and legacy groups to your sensors or edit other sensor properties, go to Settings -> Sensors & Agents page

    2. If you are using the hierarchy alpha feature, To edit the assignment of sensors to hierarchy groups, go to Settings -> Groups.

  2. Edit the CSV and make your selections. You can delete rows but do not delete columns.

    1. For sensors and agents, the columns prepended with β€œW:” are editable. Therefore, you can update the sensor properties for Name, Legacy Group, Address, PCAP Mode, and Notes.

    2. For sensors and agents, when assigning a network, use lowercase β€˜x’.

    3. For sensors and agents, make sure the legacy group name exists in the dashboard first.

    4. For hierarchy assignment, make sure the hierarchy path exists in the dashboard first and double-check for any spelling mistakes.

  3. When you are finished making changes, make sure you save the file in .csv format.

  4. Upload the file to the appropriate settings page.

  5. Wait for the confirmation email. If successful, you may need to refresh your browser to see the changes applied.

Known Limitations:

  • This feature enables the assignment of sensors to legacy groups and hierarchies. The legacy groups and the sensor hierarchy nodes need to exist in the user interface first before the sensors can be assigned.
