Installing and Provisioning Guidelines

windows and macOS agent

The latest version for UXI Agent for Windows and macOS is available in the HPE Networking Support Portal (NSP): - https://networkingsupport.hpe.com/home.

Expected platform support: Windows 10 & above, MacOS 12 and above.

Downloading UXI agent

Steps to follow:

  • Click on Software and Document Search.

  • Apply filter under product and select "User Experience Insight".

  • Click on the download button.

Installing Windows agent:

  • You will see the file HPE_Aruba_Networking_UXI_Agent_version_number.msi. e.g.
    HPE_Aruba_Networking_UXI_Agent_1.26.0.msi in NSP.

  • Locate the downloaded file.

  • Double click the file to open the installation wizard.

    The following window will open; click "Next" and then "Install."

  • After installation:

    • If you didn’t run it from the wizard, search for "UXI Agent" in the Start menu and launch it.

    • The agent will appear in the system tray (taskbar).

  • Proceed to Provisioning Section.

Installing macOS agent:

  • You will see the file HPE_Aruba_Networking_UXI_Agent_version_number.pkg e.g.
    HPE_Aruba_Networking_UXI_Agent_1.26.0.pkg.

  • Click on the download icon to download.

  • Locate the downloaded file.

  • Double click the file to open the installation wizard. A window will open as shown below.

  • Click "Continue" and then "Install." You will either need to provide the password or use your fingerprint, depending on your system.

  • Grant location Permissions: Upon installation, you will be asked to grant location access. This is required by Apple’s WLANCore API to allow the UXI Agent to detect your network’s SSID and BSSID, ensuring accurate Wi-Fi experience data collection. Rest assured, we do not track your location or use this data for any other purpose. Furthermore, no personal information is collected that could identify you or reveal your activities on your devices.

  • Once installed, you will see a prompt to provide the password one more time. Please enter the password and click "Install Helper."

Provisioning UXI agent

This is the primary URL for all sensor/agent communication with our backend systems
https://device-gateway.capenetworks.io. If you have any of SASE agents running on your device please include this URL in SSL exclusions.

  • After you have successfully run the agent application, you will see a small smiley in the menu bar. Click on it. A small popup will appear as shown below.

  • Go to the UXI dashboard and perform the following steps:

    If you do not have new Hierarchy and Group based configuration enabled please follow below steps:

    • Settings > Select "Sensors and Agents" under Locations > Click "Add."

    • A popup will appear. In the popup, select "Agent" > Proceed

    else

    • Settings > Select "Agents" > Click "Add Agent"

    • Select a group if you would like > Click "Copy token to clipboard."

    • On your device, paste this in the test box and click "Save."

  • If you do not have the new hierarchy enabled, the agent will start testing immediately if it is connected to one of the networks defined under "Wireless Network" on the UXI dashboard else you would also need to assign the network to the group agent is in.
