Introduction
Use the UXI App to troubleshoot any issues which may be preventing sensors from connecting to the UXI cloud service. Onboard sensors quickly and easily on Ethernet networks with 802.1X authentication or proxies using the UXI App hands-free auto configuration via Bluetooth.
You can download the app the Apple Store or Google Play.
Getting started
To get started, the following requirements need to be met:
Valid UXI dashboard sign-in credentials.
A Bluetooth enabled Aruba UXI G-series sensor. Visit the install website for more information.
A supported iPhone or iPad device with the IOS 11 and upwards or Android device with Android Marshmallow (Android 6) or better.
Bluetooth enabled on the device.
Download the UXI App from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
To start the sign-in process, tap the newly installed UXI App icon on your device when the download has completed.
Launching the UXI App
When launching the UXI App for the first time, a welcome tutorial will be presented which will display an introductory guide on the UXI App's main features. Swipe through the screens and tap the Get Started button to present the sign-in screen.
Welcome tutorial
On every other subsequent launch of the UXI App, the welcome tutorial will not be presented and instead, the sign-in screen will be presented containing an email text field input. Fill in the email address associated with the UXI dashboard sign-in and tap continue to proceed.
If the email address is associated with an SSO (Single Sign-On) provider, you will be directed to your SSO provider's sign-in screen.
SSO provider sign-in
If the email address is not associated with an SSO provider, the UXI App will present a password text field on validation of the email address.
Password sign-in
Once you are successfully signed in and authenticated, the UXI App will present the sensor list.
Select account
Accepting Bluetooth permissions
At this point, a permission alert will be presented, asking for Bluetooth access. This is to search for available G-series sensors that are within range. Aruba UXI has the highest security standards and practices and at no point will the UXI App maliciously use Bluetooth access. If Bluetooth permissions are denied, only limited features will be available to use.
Before searching for available G-series sensors within Bluetooth range, an account for which to search for sensors must be selected from the list. If a customer is not selected, a default account will be allocated.
Please make sure the correct customer is selected to search for the correct sensors.
Sensor list
Once an account has been selected or the screen has been dismissed, the sensor list screen will be presented.
Searching for a sensor via Bluetooth
The UXI App will present a Bluetooth loading indicator, which indicates that the UXI App is searching via Bluetooth for nearby G-series sensors that are within Bluetooth signal range.
When the UXI App detects available sensors via Bluetooth, the UXI App will authenticate these sensors and present a representation of the sensors on the screen in the form of a list of sensors.
Searching for nearby sensors
If the UXI App cannot ascertain the authenticity or identify nearby sensors via Bluetooth, the no sensors located message will be displayed. Tap search again or pull the screen down to refresh and scan for sensors.
No nearby sensors found
The list of sensors will provide information that can help troubleshoot the sensor and supply updated real-time feedback on the progress of the configuration transfer from the UXI App to the sensor. Below is a detailed explanation of the particulars that are defined in the sensor list.
The sensor serial number and name (Only the serial number will appear if a name for a sensor has not been set on the dashboard).
The Ethernet status icon. These icons will indicate the state of Ethernet on the sensor.
The Ethernet status label.
The configuration feedback label.

Ethernet and mobile states
The UXI App gives indicators of the state of Ethernet and mobile connectivity of a G-series sensor. The states will either indicate a green, red, or gray icon, depending on the state the sensor is in. A corresponding label in which more detail about the state accompanies each of the Ethernet and mobile state icons.
A green Ethernet or mobile icon indicates that the sensor is connected to the dashboard and is testing.
The following listed Ethernet states may provide a better indication of the state that the sensor is currently in. (For an expanded view, detail and recommendations for the following issues please see the sensor detail screen section of the user guide):
Connected
Disconnected
Sensor problem
Transport failure
No carrier
Authentication failure
DHCP failure
Portal / proxy failure
Incorrect captive portal or proxy
Server unreachable
The following listed mobile states may provide a better indication of the state that the sensor is currently in. (For detail and recommendations for the following issues please see the sensor detail screen section of the user guide):
Connected
Disconnected
Sensor problem
Transport failure
No carrier
No data connection
Authentication failure
DHCP failure
if the sensor in the list on the screen that has not been added to the dashboard the UXI App will detect this and the information screen will be presented.
Missing config for the sensor
The UXI App to sensor configuration transfer process
The UXI App works in conjunction with the Aruba UXI dashboard. It is important to make note that the sensor needs to be onboarded on the settings page of the Aruba UXI dashboard before a configuration can be transferred from the UXI App to the sensor. Please see this article for more information.
The UXI App may be open or closed when adding a sensor to the dashboard. The dashboard will display all available sensors that the Aruba UXI has detected within Bluetooth range.
Adding a sensor on the UXI dashboard
The UXI App will automatically detect when a configuration has been added to the dashboard and will immediately commence the UXI App to the sensor configuration transfer process.
Sensor configuration transfer process
Sensor configuration states
At each step of the configuration transfer process, the UXI App will display information about the progress of the configuration transfer process with both a progress bar and sensor configuration status label.
The following states will be displayed in the UXI App dependent on the stage and state of the sensor:
The device is not connected on Bluetooth
Checking for new config...
Downloading config
Transferring config to the sensor
Updating config on the sensor
Config updated

Celebration view
When the configuration transfer has been completed the celebration view will be shown and the sensor list item will transition itself from the Ready for config section to Configured section. The dashboard will subsequently display the sensor is online.

Update process
In some cases, the sensor may need to be updated to the latest release of the sensor software after the UXI App has successfully transferred a configuration to the sensor. In this case, the sensor will disconnect the UXI App from Bluetooth and the UXI App will display the status of the sensor update on the screen.
